Stephen Emirzian's Hollywood to Hartford is now streaming, bringing roughly 30 Connecticut-connected voices into one record of the state's film and television history and future.
Hollywood to Hartford | Connecticut's Film & Television Story, a documentary about the history and opportunities for screen production in Connecticut, is now available to stream on YouTube.
Public project coverage reports that Stephen Emirzian conceived the documentary; CTFTVA's board profile lists him as its director and executive producer. Jim Robinson, president of CSB Media Arts Center, joined as an executive producer, CTFTVA signed on as the project's third executive producer, and Donn ‘Q’ Quijada is among the Connecticut film-community voices appearing in the project.
The documentary brings together roughly 30 Connecticut-connected voices to examine locations, productions, policy, workforce, and the relationships behind the state's screen industry. Its subject is timely: Connecticut is hosting studio and independent work, building local crew depth, and creating more public rooms where filmmakers can meet audiences and one another.
A film about the state's own screen history can serve more than an archival purpose. It can help students understand the industry's roots, help communities see locations and stories differently, and help producers frame Connecticut as a place with both history and future opportunity.
An earlier organizer email announced a presentation at the August 29 Living Legacy of Ed Cohen gathering. Because the film is already streaming and the event's latest public poster foregrounds Hidden Healing, guests should use the official event registration page for the final program.
What this means for the people making media
News becomes useful when it connects back to action. A new production creates opportunities for local crews and vendors. A venue story can become a location or broadcast lead. A policy change can change a budget. A community story can become the next documentary, campaign, interview, or music video.
