The Aug. 29 gathering at US Horse Welfare & Rescue combines a living tribute, film-community networking, music, short films, nonprofit support, and the Hidden Healing documentary.

The Connecticut Film & TV Alliance is inviting the statewide film and television community to Avon on Saturday, August 29, for a living celebration of Co-Founder Ed Cohen's life and career.

The 12–5 PM gathering at US Horse Welfare & Rescue is intentionally broader than a tribute. It creates time for filmmakers, actors, crew, students, musicians, educators, supporters, and community organizations to reconnect and think about the legacy they can build together.

The program also spotlights Susan Mitchell and US Horse Welfare & Rescue, whose work includes horse care education for young people and horse therapy for veterans. Donations are encouraged for the CTFTVA education fund and US Horse Welfare & Rescue.

Live music from Elza and Marston Smith, short-film screenings scored by students of master of ceremonies Gary Gray, a Symphonina Foundation spotlight, and Hidden Healing—a documentary by Alessandro V. Andriulli featuring Susan Mitchell and the rescue's horses—are part of the current public program.

Transcend Entertainment and Music (TEAM) is identified on the official event poster as a sponsor.

Advance registration is required and capacity is limited. Organizer materials promote the gathering as free, while the official registration page uses a pay-what-you-can model. Alcohol is not permitted, and the event is not BYOB.

What this means for the people making media

News becomes useful when it connects back to action. A new production creates opportunities for local crews and vendors. A venue story can become a location or broadcast lead. A policy change can change a budget. A community story can become the next documentary, campaign, interview, or music video.
